Weiyue is currently based in Xi'an. She graduated from the Royal College of Art and holds a dual background in Photography and Sociology. Her practice investigates the relationships between image, technology, and power. She has long focused on the history of colonial vision, the authority of photography as "evidence," and the mechanisms of image production in the age of AI. Working across photography, moving image, and AI-generated imagery, her research explores how modes of seeing are continuously shaped by technological, medial, and social structures. She is also concerned with the conditions of contemporary individuals within highly informationalized societies, particularly experiences of disorientation, fatigue, and the gradual erosion of perceptual capacity.
